The story
In 2016, Verdion completed a new warehouse and distribution centre in Emstek near the city of Cloppenburg, an hour’s drive west of Bremen, for bicycle and e-bike manufacturer Kalkhoff. In 2022, Verdion expanded the complex on the adjacent land parcel to include a new corporate administration building and manufacturing facility with a combined area of 32,230 square metres.
Bicycle production requires precision engineering and highly skilled craftsmanship, from lacing the wheels and painting all the way to final assembly of the various components. We worked closely with Kalkhoff to create a pleasant working environment for the company’s valued workforce.
Another highlight of the complex is the new Kalkhoff “Brand World” exhibition, where new models are displayed along with highlights from the company’s history, and where customers can get advice from specialist staff and test ride the company’s bicycles and e-bikes on an on-site test track.
Even after project completion, Verdion continues to provide close on-site support, with the aim of working together with Kalkhoff to ensure that the complex continues to deliver excellent results for many years to come. As with many of our other projects, Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) is the funding partner.
